An Introduction to Lee Choral Society

Lee Choral Society is an established choir in Lee-on-the-Solent for mixed voices. Started in 1959 and conducted by John Witham in its beginnings, the choir has been under the baton of our Musical Director, Richard Dewland, for the last ten years.
The choir usually performs two concerts a year - a Winter Concert before Christmas, and a Spring Concert in May. We usually have a supper concert/social evening in the summer where we sing lighter classics from musicals, light opera, arrangements of pop classics like "Bohemian Rhapsody" and shorter works.
Over the past ten years our concerts have included Mendelssohn's Elijah, Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem, Faure's Requiem, Britten's Wolcum Yole, pieces by Vivaldi, Charpentier, Karl Jenkins, Sarah Quartel, John Rutter, Bob Chilcott and Christmas Carols.
We do not have auditions, however our singers are able to follow musical notation and scores. Richard will help you find the section most suited to your vocal range. We share teaching tracks to help choir members embed the works we are rehearsing each term.
Besides our regular rehearsals and performances, we also arrange regular social meet ups for members.
